    Role Summary

    LoanAmerica is looking for a Loan Support Specialist who will serve as the primary point of contact for prospective borrowers navigating the loan application and origination process. You'll handle inbound inquiries across phone, email, and live chat, guiding applicants through account setup, document submission, application status questions, and education financing fundamentals. You'll also work directly with school partners to coordinate enrollment verification and disbursement logistics. You'll be equipped with modern AI tools to work faster and smarter, drafting borrower communications, building response templates, and helping maintain our borrower-facing knowledge base. This is an execution-focused role with real strategic growth potential as the company scales.

    Responsibilities

    Borrower Support & Origination

    • Serve as the first point of contact for prospective borrowers via phone, email, and live chat
    • Guide applicants through the full loan application process including account creation, document requirements, and submission steps
    • Answer questions about loan terms, interest rates, repayment options, eligibility criteria, and education financing fundamentals
    • Troubleshoot application issues and escalate complex cases to senior team members
    • Coordinate with school partners on enrollment verification, certification, and disbursement timelines
    • Track and follow up on incomplete applications to support conversion through the origination pipeline
    • Maintain accurate records of all borrower interactions in the CRM system
    • Identify patterns in borrower questions and friction points to inform process improvements

    Knowledge Base & Workflow Support

    • Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to draft and refine borrower communication templates
    • Help build and maintain a borrower-facing FAQ and knowledge base covering common application and financing questions
    • Assist in creating internal support playbooks and scripts for consistent borrower interactions
    • Monitor and improve AI-powered chatbot responses for borrower self-service
    • Provide feedback on support workflows and suggest automation opportunities to increase efficiency

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 1–3 years in customer support, loan operations, financial services, or education-related services
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills. You can explain complex financial concepts in plain language
    • Comfort working across multiple channels simultaneously (phone, email, chat)
    • Self-directed and organized. You'll be building processes, not following a rigid script
    • Basic proficiency with CRM platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar)
    • Willingness to learn and use AI tools for drafting communications and managing workflows
    • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, professional remote work environment

    Preferred

    • Experience in student lending, consumer lending, or loan origination/servicing
    • Familiarity with education financing concepts (FAFSA, Title IV, private student loans, income-share agreements)
    • Experience with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar LLMs for content generation
    • Background working with chatbot platforms (Intercom, Zendesk, Drift, or similar)
    • Experience with workflow automation tools (Zapier, Make/Integromat, n8n)
    • Knowledge of regulatory fundamentals in consumer lending
